Day Workshop on Computational Science

Supercomputer
Education and Research Centre (SERC) is happy to announce
the second one day workshop on computational science. The
first workshop in this series has been successfully completed
in February 2011 with more than 50 participants from all
over India. Computational science is an interdisciplinary
area that brings together the domain specific knowledge of
science and engineering with relevant areas of computing and
mathematics. This helps advance all areas of science and engineering.
SERC at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is one of the prominent
places in India that conducts academic/research activities
in computational science. This multidisciplinary nature of
computational science has seen tremendous growth in the past
decade, leading to many advances in various disciplines of
science and engineering. This workshop aims to introduce and
discuss these advances with a focus on real-time applications. |

The main objectives of this workshop
are :
- To introduce the discipline of computational science,
with an emphasis on its applications to real world problems.
- Develop basic knowledge towards computational
science and knowing recent trends
- Orientation towards taking up research activities
in computational science

This workshop is open (free) for the selected final
year students of all disciplines of B.E./B.Tech., M.Sc.
(Physics/Maths/Computer Science/Instrumentation/Electronics),
and M.C.A. This workshop will include seminars from leading
experts in computational science along with guided tour
of computational facilities of SERC. It will also include
an interactive session with current research/course students,
faculty of SERC as well as individual visits to current
research labs of SERC.
The participants will be selected based on the academic
record, aptitude for research, special abilities and accomplishments,
and area(s) of research interests. Diversity among the selected
candidates will also be used as a criterion. The selected
out station participants will be reimbursed of their travel
expenses (limited to second class train fare or bus fare)
and modest accommodation will be provided.
