INTRODUCTION:

SERC welcomes, round-the-year, applications for faculty positions at all levels (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Full Professor) from Indian nationals who are exceptionally bright and motivated with an established record of independent, high quality research, and commitment to teaching. SERC hires faculty in all areas of computational science and computer systems.

ACADEMIC AMBIENCE:

The Indian Institute of Science is the premier graduate teaching and research institution in the country, and is renowned for its academic freedom, focus on research excellence, and quality of faculty and students. At a broad level, it operates in a very similar manner to the premier international research schools, with both faculty hiring and promotions based on rigorous assessment from leading international experts in the area. Similarly, student selection is based on highly-competitive examinations (such as GATE) and detailed technical interviews.

SERC fully internalizes the above creative academic ambience, and enriches it with a variety of unique facets. An exceptional computational infrastructure, featuring the top-of-the-line hardware and software, serves as the platform forcutting-edge research in high-performance computing. Interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged and supported, as is reflected in the current SERC faculty who come from diverse scientific and engineering disciplines. A variety of labs ranging from Computer Aided Design to Computational Electromagnetics are operational and new faculty are encouraged to start labs in their focus areas. Finally, the centre is hosted in an aesthetically-pleasing spacious building with all modern amenities including ubiquitious wireless connectivity.

In a nutshell, SERC provides an environment in which committed researchers routinely turn their academic dreams into reality. As a case in point, several national-level initiatives like the Digital Library of India have been seeded and grown here. Further, for many top international research conferences and journals, publications from SERC represent the very first time that research from India has been featured in those fora.
